I don't think there's a list, per se, but you can check out the site below, which gives you a list of authors whose work is part of the public domain. I don't know how complete the list is, though. The general rule of thumb, I believe, is that if the work is published after January 1, 1978, the work is under copyright with the author for the life of the author and 70 years after the author's death. The specifics and general rules are listed with the U.S. Copyright office.
