How do I compare 2 different iTunes Library XML files for missing songs?
In my house, iTunes and the physical music files do not "live" on the same machine. The music files are on the server and iTunes is set to go through the network to get them when I ask for them.
Over the weekend, I had a hard drive failure on the server which caused me to lose about 2/3s of music randomly across my 9000 songs. My iTunes library is unaffected because it is not on the same machine and it has not synced yet to discover the files are missing. Because of this I have exported my library to the standard XML format that iTunes uses.
What I would like to do is to erase my current library and reload all of my music into iTunes. Then I would export a new library.XML file and compare the pre-crash library XML to the post-crash library XML. In the end, I would end up of a list of items that are currently missing from the post-crash library so I know which CDs I need to reload or which specific tracks.
Does anyone know of any windows based software that does this? Or a script?
