Default Alternative to Adobe Flash?
If Adobe Flash is for use with animation in online multimedia, is there a similar alternative software for working with television and film? Also, what limits Flash to only work on web based animation?

flash doesn't necessarily only work on the web,, it's just popular there, there are many applications that use flash in there displays television and film used mpeg format for video,,

Most video on the web is handled via Flash these days.

Nothing limits Flash to animation, it is just that it has, historically, been very strong at that area.
